Although this is not directly on the stomach it could make you feel clammy and shaky that are not going to improve your overall condition.

Dairy products like milk and cheese at the top do not when it comes to food upset stomachs on the list. For one thing more than half the world's population already is lactose intolerance that it lacks the necessary enzyme to digest dairy products.

But even if you are not lactose intolerant a viral or bacterial infection can affect lactase (the lactose digestive enzyme) and cause you to lose temporarily or even permanently your ability to digest lactose.

Soda

Although many people attribute soda aggravating qualities that carbonic acid, citric acid and you can really blame the preservative sodium benzoate.

The chemicals can be hard on the stomach. But the carbonic acid can also disturb some people.

It can give you a full feeling and if you have upset stomach and you burp a lot and feeling full, which can be a problem.

Caffeine Chocolate

Caffeine can also loosen stools which is not good if you already have diarrhea. And chocolate, dairy products or nuts contains may be difficult to digest for those who are lactose intolerant or allergic.

Fatty foods

Cream, meat, soft cheese: All these foods are high in fat and will not help if you are feeling sick to your stomach.

This is because fatty foods chemical receptors in the stomach in a way to slow emptying of the stomach, making you feel bloated to activate itself.

Other high fat foods such as nuts make you feel full. This can be good if you are trying to lose weight, but not so great if you are feeling terrible.

Foods high in acid

Citrus fruits together with tomato-based products (tomato is technically a fruit and contains much acid) have the potential to cause heartburn.

This applies to fruit juices and lemon. So while apple juice probably would be fine orange juice is not the best choice.

Other fruits are generally good.

Spices

Spices and spicy food may not be as bad as you think. When you're used to eating spicy food, you probably have a very good tolerance for it and it will be fine.

If you are not accustomed to these foods, this may not be the right time to start. But also pay attention to how and with what cooked spices. Spices are connected while cooking in oil, so fat is probably more of a reason [for upset stomach] than the spice itself.

Alcohol

Like so many other things on the bad food list alcohol can aggravate stomach acid.

It contains chemicals that are difficult to metabolize irritate the stomach lining and can be a particular problem for those who already have problems with the liver.

People with liver problems should not drink large amounts of alcohol and anyone with stomach problems would be well advised to stay away as well.

Processed foods

Not unlike soft drinks processed foods with long shelf life usually have a lot of chemicals including preservatives that could further upset your stomach.

So while a can of spaghetti might look attractive, because it sits right there in your pantry, you might want to let it alone for now. The tomato sauce would probably be bad for the stomach anyway.
